Alex Hirsch: juggling on a unicycle while spinning surrounded by alligators and singing

Fun fact: the guy on the unicycle was Alex Hirsch.

You know, the first season and possibly the rest of the show would have gone in a very different direction if someone had asked certain questions while Stan had the truth teeth, such as "What is your deepest, darkest secret?" or a test question of "What is your full name?"

This isn't a just kid's show lmao. It's just a great show

This is even more heartbreaking when you consider that in thirty years, he still only had one journal. Given that he's seen sneaking into the basement in the first episode, we can assume he's been trying random settings to try and get a response. By this point, he was coming to terms with the fact that he likely wouldn't be able to get the portal working again, and even if he did, there was no guarantee that Ford was still alive. After a lifetime spent wandering aimlessly, he finally had a purpose in getting his brother back... and it was looking less and less likely every day.

That's also why he was so broken up when his wax statue was "murdered." He was using it as a stand-in for his brother, and had basically just lost him again.

Everything about Gravity Falls is harsher in hindsight.
EVERYTHING.

Literally anything Stan says is funny out of context.

This line actually made me feel things

It's interesting how if it had been one of the twins that said this line, the joke would be a lot easier to laugh at and brush off, due to their personalities:

If it was Dipper, we could view it as him just overanalyzing things. Mabel saying it would just be another case of her blurting out something random that creeps out the others.

For Gruncle Stan however, the line hits harder because he's spent years experiencing it.

The fact that, after Stan says this, and after the awkward silence, a laugh is heard on their TV, is the creepiest/most depressing part.

Alex Hirsch is both the juggler on the unicycle and Stan

I like how Stan just keeps intently watching the television, even after saying that. Man's already made up his mind.

You guys have no idea how vulnerable Stan was to giving away his greatest secret. If Dipper had asked something simple, like "What's behind the vending machine?", the whole story would've come tumbling out, and with PRIDE, too.

That line is hilarious in how out of nowhere it comes, but the thought that Stan secretly ponders such bleak things is quite depressing

I like how Mabel and Dipper are having full on breakdowns here; yet, when presented with similar existential dread by Glamrock Freddy, all Gregory could respond with was "I don't know, *I'm just a kid!* "
