Is this worth getting mid-2018? I’ve been thinking about buying one but I’m not sure it’s the most “future proof” camera to get because I want something I can grow and learn with and actually use professionally. What are your thoughts and what do you recommend? My budget is $1500.

add Sigma lenses 24-105 and 18-35 and you will see how sharp and well this camera renders colors!

i got mine for pretty cheap at the tail end of the 80ds life and for under a grand i coupled it with a sigma 18-35 art lens. its not top of the range and but it was in my price range and im happy with the results. wont be upgrading for a while.

For video..go for g85..n gh5. There are many better feature for videos. I was canon user earlier..

For a newbie to the 80D and video, can you point me in the direction where you got and how you installed the C-log ?

I just sold my brand new Sony A6500 and took a $500 dollar loss. The unusable back screen and terrible rolling shutter killed it for me. Now I'm looking for a cheaper alternative with a flip out screen. GH3 can be had on eBay for like $300. Then theres the G85, the 80D and also looking at the Olympus om-d e-m5 mark ii. As I will be using it for backpacking - weather sealing seems to be important, but the M50 is still in the running. I'm liking the killer IBIS on the E-M5 MKII, any help here would be appreciated. The intent is videos for youtube, btw.

Hi Nigel😉 thanks a lot for your videos and insights 😉 I maybe have a bit repeating question, being just a hobbie and enthusiast (private videos for fun or with friends), having not much interest about 4K, having already some Canon apsc glass and liking the all-i FHD enough, etc.... would you still consider buying 80D in 2019? As we are bombarded with all the new nice flashy and expensive stuff (fujis, sonys, etc.) I feel I will soon think about something “up to date” and will be in the “decision trap” again. The 80D kind of checks all marks for me, but feels already kind of old (with no offense of course). Btw, I have SL2 now. Thanks for your insights again and keep up the good work man 😉✊🏻 Milos

I haven't used cinestyle that much. I have always thought that it made the shadows really grainy. Have you had that problem? How do you deal with it?

Hey, thank you for the awesome content. I am a small creator who has been using the 80D for a while. I wonder whether you'd recommend sticking to it and maybe getting the sigma 18-35 and then later something like an r7 or wait until I can afford to get into Sony's ecosystem with something like the Fx30.
