Jan, I have had my R6 II for six months and never really bothered with a deep dive into the menu system. This was exactly what I needed. Thank you so much!

Jan, you just might be the best overall "how to" vlogger!. This vid is clear, well paced, and informative.

This is a video I needed. My whole life I had ancient cameras. Which I loved and proved it is not about the gear. Cost a lot of sweat and postprocessing to show that old cameras with a prime are more than competitive.
20D, 30D and last 10 years 5D Classic (2005 manufacture date).

Two days ago I picked up R6ii and holy moly. Milions of features which do the job for you. Literally. 5Dc could only point with one cross type middle focus point and then you recomposed the frame. Slow fps. Limited DR etc.

Now I feel like in startrek 😅

I've recently began practicing wildlife photography by photographing water fowl. I wondered why only a few of my photos were sharp, but most of my others were slightly blurry using the RF 100 - 400 lens. From this video, now I see that there are extra settings I have active that may have slowed my camera and affected my images. Thanks for this!

It is the most descriptive Canon Eos R6 video I have watched so far. Thank you for your effort 🙏🙏🙏

Perfect timing for this video Jan. I just purchased the R6 Mark II and this video is extremely helpful in setting it up for wildlife photography.. Thanks a ton for sharing the video!

Your videos for my R6MK2 and the R7 were excellent for both Bird and Sports action photography. But the best feature was the setup PDF guides allowing me to setup the cameras without going all thre the videos each time … the setup guides were well worth the small amount of money …. Well done

I have just got an R8 and as expected, 90% of the set up you have used in this video also applies to the new R8. Great work thanks Jan, that has save me a load of time and made my workflow much easier 😊

Very clear video. Just switched from Nikon to Canon and always used back button focus. This video helped me a lot to get my my settings right... Thank you!!!

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on this camera - this video seems invaluable for setting it up to do bird photography and especially BIF. Great job, Jan!

oh my gosh turning off whole area tracking servo AF saved me from going insane!!! Why do they ship cameras with the most jacked up settings? Thanks again you're a lifesaver!!!

Thanks for this! I'm a bit late to this party, but I've kept using my R7 for birds, but with the 200-800 I've moved to using my R6II and wanted to come up with advice on the AF modes.

There's one notable difference in the setup I like: since (as you suggest) I don't use the record button in stills mode, I reassign the "dial func" menu (normally on the M-Fn button) to that button. Then the M-Fn button I set to the tracking toggle, which you have set to the DOF preview button. THEN I use the DOF preview as a panic button, in case something unexpected suddenly happens.

This "panic button" mode switches to a different AF setup entirely, trying to pick up a subject in the entire field of view, and widening the acceptable exposure settings. Then if I'm busy trying to get a nice, careful shot of some nesting GBHs in one direction and I suddenly hear a bald eagle making a raid on the rookery, I can pivot, hit the panic button, and hope to grab something.

Thanks Jan for this setup vid. Got me going with my new R6II. I've gone with a triple back button Focus. Seems like a great way of taking advantage of the AF options it has. So flexible I love it.

Excellent video. While reading the manual is always helpful, having a video with detail settings and rationale really helps me make informed decisions on the settings that are right for me. Thanks very much.

I've set my R6 up as you have said, I will give it another try in the field. My problem is tracking an keeping the focus sharp at all times.

Very grateful for your thorough screen-by-screen settings review. I was having serious trouble understanding the adapting the new focus features. I 'm been accosted to simple siingle-point focusing with my 5D Mark 2s.

Thank you Jan, got my R6 mk2 yesterday this was super helpful
being a motorsport shooter i love my single point AF on track, but in the pits I take photos of people so having eyeAF available quickly and easily will be a massive help
