I built this in my skyblock world with 1 modification in center of the 3 by 3 tube 1 block below water stream I put a cobblestone block in middle of the tube with a sand and a cactus on top when cactus is fully grown it reaches same spot on next level for another cobblestone block with sand and cactus above. It kills the spiders so they don't keep climbing back up and you still get the string, dropping to the bottom. the cactus is on same level as the water stream.

I'm confused, do you build it 30 blocks in the air straight from the ground? Or do you build 30 blocks on top of the square you made? Thanks.

IT works, but if you are able to make some observers and dispensers, you can make a much better mob farm

I never understood why ppl are leaving a space of 3 blocs between platform, if u only place trap doors on the border of each platform, a little 1 bloc space will remain between each platform so trap doors are totally useless here, if it was 2 bloc space between platforms, platforms would be linked between each others by fake trap doors so mob's AI would choose more further way to go like going to another platform for example. It's convenient to have 3 space if u want to make harder the climb for spiders who can easily climb again on platforms etc if there are only 2 space, but anyway spiders in 1.15 (I tested it a lot of times in skyblock) stuck themselves often in the corners of the tower bc they are climbing it like they are stupid. Anyway just stop placing trap doors when there is a 3 space block between platforms bc it doesn't link the platforms at all, if you want an efficient farm in 1.15, just build a basic mob tower with only 2 block space for water with platforms only 1 bloc higher so mobs will be able to choose a path to go to the other platforms, you don't even need trap doors since mobs consider that they can reach the other platform bc they theorically can jump on the other platform, but water are pushing them to the center of course


Edit : I tried in a skyblock world, mobs will choose a random direction if they do not fall more than 4 bloc down, for example my mobs on the 2nd floor that were at a height of 4 block were not jumping, then i placed trap doors and they walked bc it tried to reach another platform. Dont forget to leave a space of 2 between the platforms, and not 3, bc they wouldnt be linked. Or you could do the first floor with 3 space ( easier to catch spiders) then the upper floors would have only 2 bloc space in between so you could use trap doors :)

i nearly had a heart attack building the collection as i was putting the hoppers down a skeleton shat myself and my dog came running when i at least i know i built it correctly. but how do i build one where they dont die instantly so i can get experience from it as well?

This late in the game this spawner is just too old and too inefficient, 1 layer of this with flushing would do 10x better than 5 layers of it by itself, then again this is more resource friendly and potentially less laggy.
