As many of you have commented, this is an older design. It's a really good one for an early game exp/loot farm though and Shulkercraft makes excellent tutorials.
For those who may be new to the game/channel, one of their older videos teaches you how to build an AFK mob farm that also produces string (the carpets in this build prevent spider spawns). It requires more building mats but will give you more loot with less effort.

I made this in my survival smp, it works amazing. I have tried so many other tutorials with mob farms that look so similar but they just dont work well. I think this one worked well because of how high it was placed and the carpets, thanks bro!

Tip: if u put trapdoors under the ceiling it will be a creeper farm cause only creepers will be available to spawn, and if u put cats in the corners, it will be more effective because the spawned creepers will run instantly to the water streams.

Still works great in 1.21.4! I was concerned about the comments saying it needed to be three blocks tall in 1.20 but I didn't find that for 21.4. btw, I also didn't use carpets, I just crafted extra trapdoors and used those instead.

To anyone wondering i just built this in 1.20.4 and it works amazing so definitely up to date still and to the creator of the vid this was my first ever survival mob farm ive built in over 10 years playing because i was always afraid it wouldnt work so thank you!

In newest version of bedrock u can do everything the same but replace the carpet with any type of slabs so the mobs spawn btw great tutorial liked and subscribed❤🎉

Replace the carpets with slabs instead because bats will spawn and prevent the mobs (zombies, creepers, skeletons) from spawning in the farm (for 1.21.5)

Works flawlessly! I got so much loot from it.. i built 3 layers and its doing so well. I use the Nintendo switch and it works in 1.20.5 i can tell you for sure! This is actually one of the most simple yet best farms i've built yet. My other farms keep on failing lol. Though it sometimes takes 30 seconds for mobs to spawn a lot its worth building. Im actually impressed. The spiders spawn in my farm idk why but it actually sometimes falls and die. Witches and zombie villagers also spawn sometimes which makes it so good. Thanks bro!

For those who play the mobile version, or bedrock, they must make the farm at the ground level because it becomes less and less at the height of the spawns mob.

I don't recommend building this unless you're early game. If you want lots of mob drops, build an automatic AFK mob farm. If you want lots of XP, build an enderman grinder.
