Simple Hostile Mob Farms, Minecraft 1.12 - 1.16+ (Fun Farms Ep. 15)

Показать описание
In this episode of Fun Farms, we are researching limits and possibilities of simple flush hostile mob farms. Stupidly cheap, minimum redstone, unbreakable, configurable for spawning of different mobs, all the good stuff:

If you need info on Java Bedrock compatibility or you are updating past Minecraft 1.14, make sure that you don't use the cobble wall method to prevent spiders from spawning but rather use glass blocks in the spawning chamber instead.
Also since 1.14, any block above the farm counts towards extension of spawnable space, meaning you should not build anything (AFK platforms directly above the spawning floors, In the case of basic example of an in-the-air farm form the real world example map, you can AFK on a block at {-52,188,-80} (/setblock -52 188 -80 stone), as long as the farthest point in the farm where the mob can be is not farther than 128 blocks from player AFK position. For details please refer to this fragment of a video:

- All mob farms, no cave lighting, up to 23k drops/h
- All mobs + enderman overworld farm up to 23k drops/h
- Creeper only farms: 31k gunpowder / h
- Music Disk farm for 15k disks / h
- Simple all mobs - but no spider: 34 drops / h (including 8.3k bones /h)
- Nether ending stream of hostile mobs: 38k drops/h

Bonus mathematical equation for mob farms drop rates.

Note - if you're building this in 1.14, you can just put campfires over your hoppers, and if you're in 1.16 you should upgrade those to soul campfires. And if you're from the future you should tell us whether using stalagmites is useful or not

Quick tip regarding the water placement around 3:42. Since the introduction of waterlogged blocks, you can't place water directly on top slabs as shown in the video (as of 1.16.1 in Java).
One potential workaround is to make the outermost ring of temporary blocks one higher, then place the water against them. It will take more temporary blocks, but the intended effect should result.

I love how he names other youtubers and lists why his farm is better.

Sometimes I just hate myself; halfway through building this I remembered mobs don't spawn on mushroom islands...😑🤦🏼‍♂️

xD I laughed way harder than I should've when you started reading all the Witch's drops out: Redstone, Glowstone, Blowstone (Gunpowder), Sweetstone (Sugar), Glass Bottles and Sticks.

Built in 1.20.4 Java Edition and confirmed to work.
Note: Be careful building it too low as glow squids will spawn and could possibly clog the farm.
mustiosrs and 11thNite's comments are also applicable.

Slabs: 2436 (38 x 64 + 4)
Hoppers: 25

Dispensers: 10
Observers: 10
Dropper: 1
Redstone Dust: 3
Lever: 1
Redstone Comparator: 1

Raw Material List:
Slab-Compatible Blocks: 1218 (19 x 64 + 2)
Iron Ingots: 155 (2 x 64 + 27)
Cobblestone: 138 (2 x 64 + 10)
Wood Planks: 258 (4 x 64 + 2) (Rounded up due to stick crafting)

Built in 1.19.4 and confirmed to work - I've built mine over an ocean
- @ 3:33 you need to use full blocks instead of slabs to place the water on top of, otherwise you'll waterlog the slabs
- I've placed soul campfires over my 5x5 killing area
- For the roof, you need to go out 15 blocks instead of the 7 shown in the video because of the changes to light/spawning mechanics
- Remember to use only glass when building your scaffolding to your AFK area, otherwise your rates will drop

I'm going to gather some wood and try out the trapdoors for a string/gunpowder farm. The reduced rates are an acceptable loss if it means not having to deal with the useless drops/storage etc

When you are AFKing on the AFK platform, make sure you have your render distance on 10 or above.

If you don't do this the farm wont generate any loot.

Had to figure this out the hard way, after I AFKd for 6 hours with a render distance of 9.

Gnembon I want to personally thank you for all the time it took to make this video. I am not a technical person and I made this exactly as you instructed. It took me a couple of days and I had to keep referring back to the video to make sure I got everything right. I messed up a couple of times but was finally able to get it all correct. Now it's working flawlessly and I am so thankful I don't have to make separate mob spawn traps. This gets me all the arrows, bones and other items I need in one single farm. I don't know what you do in real life but you have some great engineering talent. Thanks again!

Just built this farm on my 1.13 world. The only change I had to do was with some slabs (the ones added at 3:24) instead of half slab I used a full block so the water now flows correctly; otherwise the block will become a waterlogged block and won't work as intended.
The rest of the farm works like a charm (Is the third time I build this, thanks so much, again, gnembon :) )

I built this in 1.21.1, it works. I built it exactly as shown in the video, with one exception. When building the first platform, I used smooth stone blocks (as opposed to slabs) to build the outer ring where you place the water. Using slabs here the water did not flow correctly.

Dude. I love all the nerdy shit. But when I want a tutorial on how to build a specific thing i just want the raw building info. Your video(s) give both! You throw down the quick "this is the basics" then come back with all the nerdy info! Love it!

This works on console with a small tweak. You just have to switch the dispensers and observers. Observers have to be face up (literally you have to be able to see the face) on the platform floor with dispensers above facing the observer and a empty block between them. Lastly instead of a repeater on top of the dropper use a piece of redstone. This will send the signal into the dropper, which will activate the first dispenser to dispense water, the water will trigger the observer below, which in turn triggers the next dispenser etc. Built on Xbox One with no problems.

Funnily enough, even in 1.18 with the lighting changes in 1.18, this farm will still work perfectly fine because of the giant roof on the top of the farm. Just goes to show, how awesome Gnembon is

You know I was very confused throughout this entire video, but between the accent and the soft voice and the classical music in the background, it was so relaxing I couldn’t click away.
