You forgot the *a* from the vertex-form equation:

y = *a*|x - h| + k

For those of you watching this who do not know how to find it, you are given points on your graph. Use any point other than the vertex and plug in the x&y values into your equation. So for the first example, we see the point (-2, 3) is distinct on the graph. Plug in:

3 = a * | -2 + 3 | + 2
3 = a + 2
a = 1

In this scenario, we didn't have to write out what "a" was,   but in other graphs, it becomes very crucial.

Can an absolute value equation face the opposite way??? like this /\ instead of this \/.
And how would the equation change???

thanks so much:) i have a math test i had to retake cuz I got a 0/16 correct n i had to write out equations from a graphed absolute value n it helped so much:)
