I like to see it differently (when possible)
We are computing a distance of 1 between 2 and 3X
Only 1 and 3 are at a distance of 1 from 2 on the reals axis. So 3X = 1 or 3X = 3

Would it there be infenitely many complex solutions?
I think that if you plugged 3z - 2 into the complex plane it'd make a circle of radius 1 around the origin, and therefore there would be infinite solutions, but correct me if I'm wrong.
