I love your teaching style and your graphical representation of what is happening. I’m 51 years old and I just started two semesters ago studying at the local community college for my electrical engineering degree. My first semester I got a 4.0 in college algebra and my second semester I got a 4.0 trigonometry. Next semester, I will be taking calculus 1 all the way through Calculus 4. So am I understanding you correctly when you put the negative sign in front of the function inside the absolute value function as being a simple notation representing the opposite of the input?

For example:

|-5| = 5 negative 5 being the input and positive 5 being the output which has the opposite sign of the input?

I can see where this would be very useful in determining whether the limit of an absolute value function exists or not.

I seem to intuitively understand what’s going on here because of the fact that I am self taught all the way up through calculus 1.

Thank you for your response in advance and please keep the awesome videos coming.

God bless you 🙏

Hi, so at 4:18, does it matter if I did x < or equal to 5/2, x > 5/2 or does it have to be strictly what you put on the video.
