How does Matter for smart homes work?

Показать описание
See how manufacturers can enable Matter compliance for the smart home IoT devices they build and sell. With Matter, consumers can enjoy plug-and-play smart home device setup and operation no matter which systems they use to control their smart home.

Matter is a protocol enabling seamless interoperability between any Matter-compliant smart home device and any participating hub—including Apple HomeKit, Google Home, and Amazon Alexa.

The standard protocol is governed by the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA). Hundreds of device manufacturers have already joined. With matter, devices are much more secure, reliable, and seamless to use.

This is the best concise, technical explanation of matter I have seen.

I wonder why they don't just mirror the video like anyone else. There is no need for filming both sides of the glass...

Great Video But don't camera's say on the box which AI platform they work on? Shouldn't you check that the cheap camera's you buy work with Alexa, Google and Apple? But I jest, Matter doesnt matter for Cameras. But you know that despite the bad example...

Matter isnt that cool. You cant even choose if the device will communicate via wifi or thread or sub1g. You dont even know how the device will actually communicate until you try and connect it. Most just use wifi and have the ability to communicate with thread devices. Ill stick to zigbee 3.0 and zigbee low power bluetooth for initial setup. Using wifi is not a good setup it would only work if you could have a seperate nest system that doesnt actually connect to the internet but acts like a broadcaster for all your devices and has the inherit security of being a WLAN only.
