You wil be hearing from my lawyer... My lawyer is Mr Socky. He also doesn't argue things in court, he just strangles people to death! 😬

What do you think about Paul's video on why he believes Matter will be another failed standard? It's been a while since I've seen it, but the main takeaway I had was that it doesn't create standards or requirements for devices to actually be compatible with each other.

Thanks Reed. You always bring great information to your videos no "matter" the topic.

Thread advantage: much faster/lower overhead networking in comparison to Zigbee, also not congesting your wifi. Matter advantage: universal enrollment, CASE sessions (sessions resuming), less power usage for lowpower devices [batteries could last a lot longer], IPv6 based, mDNS, multipath BorderRouters internet connections, universal casting. Events are similar to Zigbee: Custom and Cluster. Matter over thread is much more advance than Zigbee, +added [hopefully universal] casting protocol.

I’d really like to see Home Assistant be a Matter bridge so all HA devices can work with and Matter Controller right away. But they are prioritizing being a Matter Controller first.

Funnily enough, my current zigbee stick uses a cooadinator chip which is freely programmable and there are sources that already say I just need a firmware update for Matter to work.

So I think it won't *Matter* much for me.

Matter, , its just like zigbee and zwave, but now with Super-Battlegrip IPV6. I have z-wave devices that are 20 years old that still work great.

My biggest doubt for long time is.. how matter works without a cloud server? Can we control devices from outside the network? Then, how the command will be transferred to border routers? Is the cloud connectivity taken care by the matter itself?

Most of my smart home devices don’t support homekit. Whether they will support matter 1.0 is questionable. They still work fine. I guess I will upgrade then when matter 5.0 releases.

I was one of those that asked if I should wait for Matter a few weeks back. Appreciate the content, is made me recognize some ways to 'smarten' my home in simple and obvious ways 👍

Don't need Matter, I have had HomeKit for years working flawlessly. Works local, easy to setup HomeKit devices, privacy guaranteed, Millisecond response times!

Running everything locally without cloud delay, that's the most important matter.

I was wondering if I could get your opinion. We're going to remodel the kitchen in the near future and I'm wanting to put in a few smart switches. Should I wait on Matter or just go with something out there now?

Great video probably the best 1 yet on this issue. My question is if matter doesn’t use the cloud. So will still be able to control a device if not at home. Like turning on a light manual that is set up not a timer. Once again great video
