Home Hubs which don’t support all protocols shouldn’t be Matter certified until they fix that. The sensor manufacturers are compliant. It’s time for Amazon and Google and Apple to step up.

Matter as well as Thread still has a glaring issue. That is a reliable end user diagnostic system for when things go wrong. Even something as simple as determining if a Matter device is Matter 1.0 or Matter 1.1 or Matter 1.2 is much harder than it should be.

I literally got interested in matter yesterday, and now you post this

I finally took the plunge a few days ago and updated one of my Eve Energy plug (Matter over Thread) from Homekit to Matter. Funny thing is that although my Home Assistant (VM) does not "speak" Thread it found the device and I can control it. I have no idea WHY but I love it :)

This is the best Matter breakdown video I've seen. I learned some new things.

Great overview, Matter certainly has come a long way but isn’t quite what’s been promised yet. Nice to see more companies and products supporting matter

I think the people who benefit for most from matter is builders and home owners. Basically the same reason. When they add permanent fixtures like air conditioners that will stay with the house means that the next tenant/occupier can use these in their preferred eco system. Being able to hook up things like lights and most sensors to different system is good but generally these will be taken when they leave.

Thankyou man. This was exactly where I have been looking for 👌🏻

Why reset the device etc just to see it in nearby devices to still have to add the matter code? Why wouldn't you just scan the matter QR code to start with when you first add the device in order to add it in less steps etc?

Love how first half you silencing Alexa, then once you started putting them on blast for not supporting buttons Alexa came out like 3 or 4 times in rapid succession. Lol

I don’t have any pure Matter products yet, just added the Aqara G4 doorbell and U100 lock to the front door and got the M2 Hun to go with them for no real reason, but may help if I add some other Aqara items down the line.

My biggest problem is light switches, lots of options out there, but none quite right for my needs. Hoping to see some improvements in the light switch department, but I’m afraid most companies are focused on the new shiny toys rather than perfecting the old ones.

Good video as usual Shane.

Most of my Accessories are HomeKit ‘native’, and those that aren’t have been added via HomeBridge…the only Matter Accessories that I’ve had to adopt were the Blind Tilts from SwitchBot. They were challenging to keep working properly at launch, but Firmware updates seem to have helped.

Anxious to see if anything else gets the Matter logo that will get me to add more to my Smart Home using the standard. 😏

Thanks for the upload!

Great video as always! I am definitely interested in watching a review of the Tuo Smart Lock when it’s available.

I personally think any lock that supports Apple Homekey is worth being featured in a video!

If I was a manufacturer - I would definitely be asking for the blessing from the Matter Gods haha. Great video my friend!

Availability in Australia would be nice

Is device compatibility still an issue with smart products? What are the main issues at the moment with smart homes and the market in general?

It would be awesome to see a review of the TUO smart lock. I only know of the Schlage encode plus that has thread and home key support. The TUO one would be a lot cheaper and it supports both

I'm considering switching to Apple HomeKit from Alexa, not impressed with Alexa but none of my devices are made for HomeKit. I have Govee lights, Kasa smart plugs. Any suggestions how I can get them to work with HomeKit or do I need to get new devices? Thanks

have you used the Tuo temp sensor yet? and if so, what are your thoughts?? Curious about the air quality part.

Thanks for the information. I'm tempted to order the Tuo temperature sensor because it supports Matter over Thread but I really can't find any reviews on it. Not even the Tuo website has any listed. If this was a $20 or $30 sensor and it didn't work very well, it wouldn't be a big deal. But my expectations go up a fair amount for a $50 device. I have to balance my appetite for more Matter over Thread products with my desire to remain a wise consumer :)
