How to Install an Electric Range

If you are thinking about how to install an electric range, we can show you the process we undertook so you can see if it is something you want to take on. The process is not terribly complicated but there are a few important steps you want to be sure and cover carefully.
Ranges or stoves are typically shipped without a power cord. Ours could be wired for a 3 wire or 4 wire set up. This depends upon the plug where the range will be plugged in.
The appliance store carries the 3-prong or 4-prong cords.
We ad to make sure our home wiring was set-up to handle the heavy electrical demand for a slide in range. The installation instructions have the needed information for circuit / breaker sizing. You can ask your electrician if this is beyond your comfort zone.

The steps we covered were:
1) We removed all the protective plastic on the stove. It is crucial when you proceeded with the process of how to install an electric range( or any other kitchen appliance for that matter) , it is important to take your time and make sure all protective plastic is carefully and fully removed.

2) We next hooked up the correct power cord. We were sure to match our house wiring set-up / capacity to the electric range. Its always a good idea to consult a qualified electrician before moving forward.

3) The next step in to install an electric range was to install the anti-tip bracket so we could slide the range into place. The anti-tip bracket is for safety - anchoring it into place.

4) Lastly to finish our efforts in the process of how to install and electric range, we slide the oven into place being careful to:
- carefully slide the electric range / stove in to place making sure not to pinch the electric cord behind the stove.
- and finally the electric range back adjustment leg was slide in to the anti-tip bracket in place.
