Thank you for this short. My friend was trying to tell me that the face of the gang box was supposed to be flush with the 2x4. He wanted me to move mine back. Now he says there's two ways to do it! 😂

If you are installing in a kitchen or bath where tile may be used, you can use an adjustable depth electrical box. That way you can dial in the box to exactly match up with the finished wall.

I measured the protruding tabs. They are only 3/8" will that depth still work with 1/2" drywall? I'm a noob at this stuff, and I don't have 1/2" scrap drywall to use.

But drywall is sold in 1/2” and 5:/8” thickness so which depth is correct?
