What I always found interesting and I never really put together until a few years ago was the fact that if you look at the belt, it’s a little beat up and has a black wash on it. That particular belt was held by Randy Savage and Ric Flair. Shortly after regaining the title, Hogan got a nice new belt all shiny gold. Hogan was always about his belts and I am glad because that dingy belt would get traded up for a nice and shiny one.

I'm 39 years old, having seen what the business is about, knowing how office politics affected these story line and how Hogan would tend to hoist himself above others to the detriment of the company, I think its shameful how they did Brett here, and even Yoko.

That being said, as a 9 year old at the time, I absolutely went livid when Hogan won lol, it was my first time ever seeing him win a big match, until that time I had only ever seen old matches from the late 80s or his Warrior match. So for me, I felt like I got to see Hulkamania too. Take that how you will!

It's funny how much revisionist writing there is on this specific issue amongst smarks and where it had become cool to criticise Hogan. The reality is that you can't erase the crowd reaction at the time. It is right here on this actual video. And I still recall the next day at school how hyper and happy all my friends were - they couldn't believe that out of the blue Hulk Hogan was champion again (in a good way). That was the actual experience at the time rather than the nonsense that others present today which has no basis in reality of the time.

A year before Yokozuna under a different name got to work with Andre the Giant, a year later he headlines with Hulk Hogan in Hogan's last 2 WWW Pay per views until his return in 2002.
Nothing against Bret, but we forget Yokozuna was an up.and coming talent and speaks volumes when everyone from Andre, Hogan to Taker want to work with you
