After watching this channel for a couple years I know what it is that makes it a great channel. It is the voice and his tempo. He has a calming friendly voice that makes you listen. Briggs could read the phone book and people would listen into the Qs. The dry humor is insanely polished.

Fun fact: Arizona is actually mostly mountains. It's actually a huge misconception that Arizona is all desert. The entire top half of the state is mountainous. We even have skiing!

Just a minor correction from a Kentucky resident: the Kentucky Derby is not held on the first Sunday in May, it's on the first SATURDAY in May. And yes, it is preceded by a two week long party called the Derby Festival. The festival itself is kicked off by a massive airshow and fireworks display called Thunder over Louisville, which typically has well over 100k people in attendance.

Can't believe the disrespect Mississippi got. We may be poor but we aren't called the hospitality state for nothing.

Going through a hard time right now and Briggs' sense of humor helps me keep sane. Thanks for all you do, Briggs!

I have lived in New York, California, Nevada, Georgia, South Carolina and Virginia.

I like Virginia the best. Great mountains, great hiking. Not too hot in the summer, not too cold in the winter.

I’m a summer road tripper and this video just makes me wish it was summer so I can get in my car and visit as many states as possible.
I’ve been to the lower 48 already and every year I find more and more beauty in our beautiful country! 🇺🇸 🙌🏽

You mention how similar Vermont and New Hampshire are. Not sure if you are aware, but jointly they are known as the "Twin States". I grew up on the New Hampshire side of the Vermont and New Hampshire border, and at least in my area, regardless of what side of the Connecticut River you were from, it was all considered one community. So much so that some my school district was the first, and still one of the few, interstate school districts. Growing up with kids from both sides of the border also contributed to the feeling of it being one big community. Even as a Granite Stater, I absolutely love Vermont.

I've lived in California, Oklahoma, and Texas. Your descriptions of California and Texas were fair but boy did you do Oklahoma dirty 😆 There's actually a surprising variety of natural landscapes and human settlements in the state. There are forested mountains, grassy plains, wooded hills, sand dunes, caves, and not-quite-but-close-to-desert bluffs. There are two major metropolitan areas and lots of small cities and towns scattered throughout. A lot of history and culture. Also, New Mexico is a very underrated state; I don't think you did that state justice either. Same thing; a surprising mix of different landscapes and cities. I can tell that you lean towards small-time quiet living that is "safe" and that shows up in your discussion of the various states and the cities in them.

As an Finnish people i think i would choose between Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan or Dakotas.

But Texas, Montana, Carolinas, Wyoming, Illinois and Indiana would be nice too.

Maybe at some point i have to choose other place to live than Finland, because that crazy guy in eastern neighbor... 🤔

Michigan isn't defined by Detroit, it's an amazing, beautiful place. I wouldn't call the winters brutal here( maybe in Da UP) because Lake MI buffers the storms coming from MN WI and the Dakotas so not as harsh. Beautiful beaches; salt shark and jellyfish free.

My brother and I did a road trip around Nevada and it is way prettier than Briggs give it credit for. mountains as far as the eye can see and beautiful small towns. There is so much more to Nevada than Vegas and Reno. More people need to visit Carson City, Nevada. It's one of the best capitals I have ever been to in any state. I think more people need to see more of Nevada, because it's more than just "desert"
Nevada truly is one of the most beautiful states I've ever been too and more people need to see it.

A few other interesting things about New Mexico:

We have Roswell, where the first UFO landing happened. It has a nice walking downtown, and some museums.

Roswell also has the New Mexico Military Institute, a place for military hopefuls to attend high school and get military experience in the process.

Carlsbad has some interesting caverns.

Just north of Alamogordo, we have White Sands National Park. White sand hills in the middle of the desert.

New Mexico is a beautiful state for people who enjoy the outdoors more than anything.

Our national parks are beautiful.

Your disdain for New Mexico was quite apparent in this video. You just happened to leave out one of the most important things about the state, and the big reason why it is so attractive to so many people - it's called the Land of Enchantment, a nickname that it richly deserves, from my experience living there.
