Don't sugarcoat it guys, Imagine Dragons has nothing to do with rock. Criminal to be on that list.

For some reason many of the established rock bands and artists from the alternative rock scene in the 80s and 90s disappeared very quickly in the 00s. Grunge had already killed 90% of the hard rock bands from the 70s and 80s, and when most of the alternative bands in the 90s stopped making music in the late 00s, rock kind of died off and became a thing for Boomers and Generation X.
I believe the digital revolution had a lot to say in how millennials and Gen Z moved to EDM and rap. Music trends always becomes a part of the times, a sign of the times, and the youngest millennials and Gen Z grew up with electronic devices everywhere, so "analog" rock music just doesn`t gives them a feeling of their reality. My generation (X) grew up with radio, vinyl, cassettes etc. Very analog and physical formats with, for the most very natural sounding music. Even disco and pop sounded kind of natural as it often had guitars and drums in it.
Sadly I believe rock will never become what it once was, as music history shows that when a generation listens to new genres, the last popular genre quickly becomes a nostalgia thing among the older generations, and ends up getting played by cover bands in bars and small clubs etc.

When she said nobody expected that of her that’s true. I met her in Kindergarten and use to go to her house and play Super Nintendo. I never thought she would end up where she is. And she deserves every bit of her success. She’s one of my oldest friends and a really down to earth person.

Never give up on it, I still write and play my songs on guitar. I do appreciate other music but that's pure to me. It all depends on where the music is coming from within the writer, "as long as it's good and has passion", a wise man once said.

I am so sure it will come around some time... maybe not soon, but it somehow feels like edm is like a social media type of thing, there is the technology, everyone jumps to it, but some people my age (early 20s) already leave facebook and stuff in an effort to find more true connections. Finding rock was like that for me too. My dad was a funk guy, i loved expression in music. I listened to techno and electro a lot partying but punk and blues and rock just dont need that setting, as the story is already within it. It is a more complete experience in that sense and feels more genuine, closer from the artist to the listener. In a way, bluesrock feels like having a deep convo over a coffee with a singer, while edm feels like a heavily edited snapchat story. Just my opinion and "feel" no offense, i enjoy both from time to time.
