i was taught the stud that carries the header is called a jack.

FYI...across from the header add in some cripples sideways for future window treatments. Then when adding curtain rods you have lumber the screws can bite into instead of driving a screw all the way out to the outer wall Plus you charge a little more.... :)

My framer seemed to decide not to put jack studs on a few of my window openings, but double king studs with the header bolted to the king studs. The inner king stud is too far inward of the opening and needs to be trimmed back, how can this be trimmed back to make the opening wider?
