In this episode I talk about what I think is the most difficult and discouraging part about dividend investing. I talk about changes in my portfolio with Disney and UPS. I talk about my thoughts on a REIT cutting it's dividend. I give an update on Boeing with the CEO talking to investors. I keep up with the latest drama with Elizabeth Holmes as she goes to first court appearance. And I share my thoughts on Kevin Hart talking with Joe Rogan.

Sorry that around the 4 minute mark the audio quality turns pretty bad for a while. I re-arranged my desk and the mic got flipped the wrong direction. So we'll have better audio quality in future episodes, I promise.

My first dividend investment made me 50 cents I was excited, getting paid to do nothing. The hardest part is starting.

I think the reason so many ppl are drawn to your channel is that you actually show your holdings. You also obviously do your homework and you are easy to listen to, keep up the good content!

I started investing and I was on the red with $5k negative the first few months, I was sad, but I just did not look at it as "trading" more like "buying pieces of companies", today 2 years later I am in the green over 80% return on the green.

It takes a long time for compounding to take effect especially when investing small amounts, but anybody starting now is gonna be happy they did in 15+ years if not sooner.

could you do an episode on how you do your research for selecting your companies and what parameters do you take into consideration and why?

Wow! You actually call out the bad parts of Boeing while still understand the reasons why their stock will not fall. Your combination of justice as well as logic is EXTREMELY hard to find in any individual. Subscribed now. Amazing content! Keep up the great work!

Just found your channel and watched Ep. 21. I'm a fan! However, I see more and more 3M products in my life daily. Just to comment on one of the things mentioned in your vid. I'm a high voltage cable splicer for the power company in Detroit. 3M is one of the leading developers of the high voltage cable splicing industry. And with the development of new cables and the need for more electricity (EV's, electronic devices, and renewable energy in general) I see potential for massive growth in this company. Our current electrical infrastructure is comprised of thousands of miles of lead jacketed cables with paper insulation and being replaced with newer plastic and rubber insulated cables. 3M has developed some of the absolute best transition splice kits on the market and I see a serious demand for their products for years to come.

When my wife and I started to invest, I made the decision to invest in phases based on a comment you made in a previous video. I split our stock picks into 5 phases with $5k thresholds for each phase. I made sure to buy a minimum of 2 full shares of each stock at each phase. I did this to make sure we got a full payment of a dividend. This is a big psychological help. We are still in phase 1, I hope to hit phase 2 by the end if 3rd quarter start of 4th quarter.

I would make the suggestion, if you invest in this manner, to go ahead and get all of the bonds to reduce volatility.

Let me make a confession. I actually stopped watching Graham Stephan recently and just started watching yours.
That might not mean a lot to you but your content is so on point and so useful, that I literally stopped following a big youtuber in favor of you.
Keep up the great work man.

Good info! I just started investing. Most of my money has been just sitting in a Saving, and a little in 401k. But I decided to try out my hand in beginning investing. I really appreciate videos like yours.

I started playing around with a high dividend yielding ETF about 2 years ago. I didn´t do much with it. But then I started adding to it little by little. Now I am getting some significant dividends relative to what I have invested. It has sparked me to really look hard at dividend investing. I had always held a bias against dividend investing (I really didn´t understand the opportunity at all.). Now I have begun to be consistent over the last 2 months. I know it will take years. But I am working on a plan to hit a certain goal by my 60th birthday in 15 years that if I want to be independent between Social Security and dividends I should have plenty to support my wife and I. We also have zero debt and a fully paid for house.

$110 a month in a 35k portfolio puts you around 3.7% annual yield for 2019 (I think). Very cool. 4% seems like a sweet spot of balancing risk/reward.

You know, I’ve actually got $35, 000 invested in stocks lol. That’s why my attention was piqued by this video. Agreed. Few people decide to invest their money.
EDIT: I forgot I even posted this comment. Now my portfolio is at $50, 000.

I orginally thought the tile said, "The hardest part about investing 35k, " and Ithought, "Wow, what an interesting title."
