My autistic daughter loves water, splashing, spilling water bottles, playing in the tub, filling the sink with toys, watching the rain etc. etc.

I have a child lock on the bathroom door for this reason. And sensors on every window. I don’t deprive her of playing with water but she is not able to do it without me even if she wanted to.

"Autism Speaks" is not a reputable source for information on autism. Please stop using them as a source.

Oh my God, I can’t believe this so-called autism expert doesn’t even understand that water is sensory! It is very stimulating… the way it moves… the way it feels… the way it looks… It is very stimulating to a person with autism. People with autism experience, things more intensely…Particularly things that are sensory. Their senses can be enhanced and they can perceive things in ways that we do not . Above all teach these kids to swim.! She could have placed more emphasis on that as well

Because their parents take their eyes off of them for a second. Because their houses are not secure enough for them to be alone for a second and they slip out un noticed and walk away. No fear of water so they fall in.
