My son just got diagnosed with adhd at 8yr old and what I’ve learned is you have to have full patience and Lego’s and call of duty is his comfort space aswel.

Great videos.
My 4 y.o. son has both ADHD and autism. His symptoms are kind of mixed from your 2 youngest boys. He likes to make noise, a lot of noises. We can make eye contact and conversation with him (not as easy as with Simon) but it's hard to maintain for more than 15 seconds. He never had a meltdown ever before. We go to crowded places/play ground quite often, like 2-3 times per week and he never shows any sign of too much sensory inputs.
And he smiles a lot. We love him.

A person I know has two grandsons with autism. One grandson is level one/mild and has autism, dyslexia, and possibly adhd. The other grandson has level two/moderate autism but not the other two conditions above. This goes to show that everyone on the spectrum is different.

Hello, my son is 4 just diagnosed with adhd this past September. I've been leaning towards the fact he has both. Thank you for this video

I loved that transition about 2:45 where he was the same and the whole world changed.

This was so informative! I’m the oldest of three kids and was recently diagnosed with afhd and looking for an autism diagnosis. One of my brother has many symptoms of adhd and my other brother is definitely neurodivergent. While watching this video I realized how many signs they showed even as baby’s.

I’ve got autism and dyslexia. When i stim i don’t like to do it at school because people don’t know why I’m rock back and forward and walk back and forward. In school i have extra help in lessons and my friends help me. I struggle to look at people in their eyes and sometimes I can look at people in eyes its only for a few seconds. I like to have quiet spaces and i get upset if I have to much loudness sounds, I cover up my ears to stop the loudness coming in…

I have autism, ADHD, and bipolar 2 disorder, and for a long time, I couldn't get the ADHD diagnosis. I finally got one 3 years ago. I've always had a slight desire to play with other kids, but I have severe social anxiety so I never have. I stay in my room all day every day because of the anxiety, and cause I don't like loud places. Walmart tends I always tend to be too much for me. I like to ramble on about dinosaurs and I could talk about them all day without getting bored, but when it's a conversation that has no interest in I interrupt and I change the subject, and I do it so much that a lot of people try not to talk to me so I don't hold them in a conversation about "nonsense". To them my dinosaurs and random science facts are nonsense but to me, it's something I really enjoy. I also hold conversations by relating, but people say I try to 1 up them when really I'm just trying to communicate in a way I can understand so I can stay on one topic and not be rude by changing the subject or cutting people off. Sorry I typed so much.

I have a ten year old stepson who has been diagnosed with adhd and ODD. He stims all the time from slight shaking of his head to, flapping his arm and making repetitive sounds with his mouth. He also sometimes spins. His tantrums are like a 3 year olds tantrums when he can’t get his way. He couldn’t have candy last night and man he was sobbing, yelling, stamping his feet. It was incredible to watch. For a ten year old his reaction did not correlate with being denied a candy. I am thinking he may have autism.

This video was some time ago but I was wondering if someone could have both Adhd and Autism but one overpowers the other or one wasn’t as noticeable in childhood but got more noticeable as they got older or the two “evened out” in a way.

Oh my son, I thought my social butterfly son is just very very outgoing and social, I never link his traits of being social to adhd 😮😮 thanks for brining it up.

Just out of curiosity, when Benson interrupts people's conversations (due to his adhd) do you let him speak straight away (so he doesn't forget), or are you more inclined to say something like "One moment please i'm speaking." As always love your videos, so informative. ❤

I can totally relate based on my own experience and watching my son. I already know he has ADHD, though he hasn’t yet been diagnosed, but it wasn’t until recently that I really started to think he’s probably autistic as well. He is five, and very smart, friendly, sweet, affectionate, etc. but he also freaks out about loud noises, or sometimes any unusual noise. He always asks questions about things he sees or hears. He has trouble listening, but other times he will repeat what you say, word-for-word, even when he was busy making a racket when you say it.
Personally, I don’t think that children should ever be diagnosed with autism until they are at least four years old, which is why I didn’t allow things before now to influence me toward thinking he was autistic. A huge difference between me and other parents of kids with autism and/or ADHD is that I know and remember what it was like to be very young and experiencing those issues. I wasn’t diagnosed with ADHD until I was 11, depression at 15, and autism at 28. I knew nothing about ADHD until my parents talked to me about going to see a psychiatrist for it. I recognized the depression myself and asked my dad for help. But it wasn’t until I had to drop out of college (university) when I was almost 23 that someone from the office finally noticed me well enough to suggest that I might be autistic. I researched it and realized that assessment was correct. Many people did not believe me, and accused me of diagnosing myself. It took years to finally find someplace with someone to evaluate me, and I was also re-diagnosed with ADHD. Since that point, certain people have become more accepting of the reality—since it was an actual diagnosis and no longer just something they thought I made up in my head. I never considered myself to be “self-diagnosed”; instead, I think that I just realized that I did have autism. Sure, I’m not professional, but the signs were very clear and it explained a lot of stuff about me that I hadn’t been able to figure out.

Anyway, thank you so much for this video. You guys seem to have a good way of dealing with various difficulties with your children. You seem like wholesome people, and I’m glad I came across this.
