Hurt, Eccleston, Tennant, Smith, Capaldi. Whoever cast these guys must be magical. Say what you will about the comparative strengths and weaknesses of Davies and Moffat; these five actors have all been magnificent Doctors.

"River would know though. River always knew." He knew her final resting place since the day they met, and now he realizes she knew where his was too. Neither could tell the other, but had to live with that information weighing on them. MY HEART.

"They cared for me during the dark times." He still can't bring himself to mention losing Amy & Rory. It's just - the dark times. I don't think he mentions them by name again until 12's scene in the diner.

I dare you to try to count how many different emotions Matt conveys in three minutes fifty seconds.

I love how the TARDIS even now is doing all she can to protect the Doctor. I am so glad we had 'The Doctors Wife' because it shows that his one constant companion cares about him in a way nobody else can.

0:45 is one of the greatest and most authentic line deliveries I've heard in my life. I say that with complete sincerity. Smith nailed that.

Matt Smith does such a outstanding job of showing just how old the Doctor really is. The way he speaks to Clara about the one place you must never go. There is such a weight to the words. It's one of my favourite scenes.

I love how when The Doctor learns that he's going to die he immediately goes to be close to the heart of the TARDIS.

Damn.

That's true love right there.

0:45 when things get too tough, he always runs back to his box, poor boy. Matt Smith is EXCELLENT.

Matt is an amazing Actor and he never gets the recognition he deserves. let's not forget, he's the first actor to play the Doctor who has grown up with no New Who to watch as a kid. In my opinion, this ment he's had the hardest job of any of the new series Doctors, and he pulled it off fantastically.

He is willing to rip apart the space-time continuum to rescue 3 people who were kind to him. That, right there, is the essence of being The Doctor. I had my issues with the Matt Smith years, but that was done perfectly.

2:57 - And when *that* bit of music starts up you know shit is about to go down.

Oh god, I didn’t even hear that tiny ‘sorry’ at 0:32 until now, he’s apologising to Clara for crying. This scene is just a underrated tear jerker. The way his hands tremble and his voice quivers as he just seems to be begging Clara to tell him that it was a mistake and the Great Intelligence didn’t say Trenzalore breaks my heart. There are many reasons as to why the Eleventh Doctor will always be my favourite and Matt Smith’s acting makes up half of them.

I LOVE Clara's reaction when she sees the Doctor break down. It's so surprising to her because he's always been so fearless and brave, and in his quivering voice and tears, she's seeing raw fear. You can even see her eyes fill a bit because she cares about him so much.

I cannot adequately express how much I love this scene, and Matt Smith's acting in it. From 1:40 onwards, you could genuinely feel how old The Doctor actually is. The weariness in the voice and the stiff body language, Smith was absolutely brilliant~

Series 7 was so uneven in terms of quality, but the two things it did better than almost any other series were Matt's brilliant, brilliant performance and Murray Gold's best score ever. Between this number and the Long Song (Rings of Ahkaten speech), this may be the best musical score on TV period.
