Humility | The Most Important but Forgotten Virtue | Andrew Murray
Показать описание
Humility is the foundation and root of all virtues, yet often is the most forgotten one. It’s easier to focus on trying to love better or having more patience, but Andrew Murray portrays all other virtues as stemming from humility before God and people. Perfect humility was first modeled in Jesus Christ, and He asked His disciples to follow in His footsteps. It is through humility that we can find real peace, joy, love, patience, kindness, and contentment both towards God and towards those around us.
This is the full Bible passage referenced in the video:
Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though He was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
- Philippians 2:5-11 (ESV)
These are the full quotes taken from Andrew Murray’s book Humility:
“Jesus Christ took the place and fulfilled the destiny of man, as a creature, by His life of perfect humility. His humility is our salvation. His salvation is our humility.”
“We must learn of Jesus, how He is meek and lowly of heart. He teaches us where true humility takes its rise and finds its strengths – in the knowledge that it is God who worketh all in all, that our place is to yield to him in perfect resignation and dependence, in full consent to be and to do nothing of ourselves. This is the life Christ came to reveal and to impart – a life to God that came through death to sin and self.”
