Fair number of people mentioning the spelling of extravert as extrovert, which is much more common and I probably should have used it in hindsight, but for context, extravert with an A is usually preferred for the "I'm doing a psych report" format, while extrOvert is more common in everyday common use to mean outgoing.

In my experience, both ends of introverts and extroverts are extremely socially awkward. The only difference is - extreme introverts are in constant fear that they might screw up a social interaction, so they stay overly reserved or keep over-correcting themselves, leading to social awkwardness, whereas extreme extroverts keep yapping on and on not realizing no one in the room is too invested in their mundane quips, leading to social awkwardness that they aren't aware of until much later.

I like to think of it as a cycle:
You are introverted --> you find hobbies that don't require interacting with anyone in person --> you meet people online who share those exact hobbies --> they all have friends and relationships and functioning social lives unlike you --> question whether you're actually introverted or just completely dysfunctional --> become depressed and more introverted in the process --> repeat
