As a physiotherapist, this sums it up pretty well! Having one leg injured and not using it, even in day to day activities, weakens the muscles very quickly! But thanks to having muscle memory, athletes muscles can more easily get back to top form.

I was watching live when Tyrone Mings tore his ACL, but I’m glad to see him training again.

Had ACL surgery 6 months ago. Almost 100% recovered! Make sure you do a pre-surgery physical therapy regimen with experienced professionals. It will greatly increase your recovery rate.

I had an ACL injury about 11 years ago. It was only minor and it was horrifically painful, especially first few weeks. Could sit, couldn’t lay, couldn’t stand. Whatever I did was painful. I was out for 4 months so massive respect to these guys that get a compete rupture and come back. Mind you, start of last season I had a meniscus tear on other knee and that kept me out all season. Just kept flairing. Knee injuries are the worst.

Also getting major injuries like this often mean the chance of it getting injured again increases each time.

I mean there was this one kid who broke his arm in the 4th grade and until the end of 8th grade he constantly broke his wrist when falling.

This is also the case for my older brother. He kept injuring his knee and it became easier and easier for it to get injured.

After these types of bad injuries I get it when some players hang up the boots early. I mean if it keeps getting injured some of these guys can’t even run properly anymore, not in a competitive game, just to run or walk they have problems.

Numbers of the match and intensity of the training are insane. This is why players nowadays must be paid more. Athletes' career span is short. They even get involved in contents for club's socmed and youtube videos. More jobdescs means more payment. It's a common rule.

Gone through it. Ended my career. It's never the same after you recover. There's a constant fear in the back of your mind.
