“Fully recover” from an ACL injury. That’s some funny shit right there.

I tore my ACL 8 years ago and I did not recover for 6 years. While I was able to play soccer again, my knee was unstable and I had to play with robotic movements. Such as no jumping, switching directions slowly and not sprinting. Otherwise if I did any of these things my knee would give way and it would snap hard. Finally last year I wanted answers and went to a surgeon which then I found out my ACL was torn and my meniscus had suffered greatly from using my knee within out stability. I got surgery and finally my knee is stable, I can jump, sprint, change directions and most importantly not have to constantly fear for my knee giving out

Just tore my ACL playing football/soccer and I didn’t notice until my teammates was screaming for the manager to call ambulance and then I said I’m fine then tried to stand up and fell back down . I guess the adrenaline from the game helped ease the pain for a little bit 😂😂

Current research suggest a period of rehabilitation before making the decision for surgery as new evidence show the success rate are similar between surgery or conservative treatment (some poor prognostic factors are more likely to benefit from talk to your doctor and ask him your options)

New evidence from an ACL SNAAP protocol study actually suggests not all individuals require surgery. Additionally, MRI evidence has demonstrated full healing at 1 year post injury in a substantial minority of individuals examine. Best predictors whether surgery should be performed would be level of sport’s performance and continued moments of instability following a course of specific rehabilitation therapy.

I have a MCL sprain in my right knee. It's been 1.5 months. I do rehab excersises daily 30 minutes and icing. Now I can normally walk, cycling etc. But it little bit hurts after waking up, to sprint, to stand up after long sitting.
Can anyone please grade my MCL sprain and when it will be fully recovered through daily rehabilitation?
I'll be really grateful.🙏🏻🙏🏻

The acl reconstruction makes it worse, I’ve seen dozens of patients who undergone multiple acl surgeries after their first one. Surgery makes the joint even more unstable and forces your body to compensate and makes things worse.

John Elway played his entire college and pro career without an ACL in his left knee. He tore it in high school but never got work done on it because there was no need. The supporting structures around his knee joint were very strong. Go watch some of his highlights and take note of his physique. His entire posterior chain is well-developed and powerful. Particularly his glutes and hamstrings. Look at the guy in the video. He has no hamstring development. His knee is completely unstable already. He needed to develop his posterior chain before attempting to do weighted plyometrics.

I did my acl playing sport just trying to change directions, depends on how bad it is I feel like you don’t fully heal (at least not really me), I gym and do muay thai but have been finding recently that there’s pain if it hyper extends a bit, it happened 4+ years ago, would’ve helped if I was a bit more consistent with rehab as well haha

You don't actually need reconstruction, new research shows that you can rehabilitate without surgery and have it be just as effective

Fun fact: Cooper Kupp had an ACL tear early in his pro career, he focused so much on the recovery process that he relearned how to run and he actually corrected some flaws he had on running before the ACL tear, he came back after his ACL tear running a faster 40 than before his ACL tear and has been the top wide receiver or one of the top wide receivers for the past few years now. Obviously that’s miraculous though and not normal for an ACL tear.

41 now. Kind of miss playing sports but the risk is just too high. I know and have seen so many guys badly injured from sports or stupid training methods.

Most of the time when I watch one of these injury videos there's some guy in the comments with a god complex saying that it's their fault and that it was completely avoidable if they simply slept an extra hour, drank a little more water, and did a little more warmup or stretching beforehand
