There has been background checks in my state since the early ‘90’s and most, if not all, blue states are the same. Anyone who tells you differently, either has never tried to purchase a gun, or they’re either lying or have been lied too.
If you don’t believe me, go to a sporting goods store and ask to purchase a gun. Before you can pull out your credit card, the person behind the counter will point to the computer and you’ll have to fill out a background check, real time, with your state representative. The store owner will then have to speak to the person as well, giving his personal and business information as well. Try it!

Before the ar15 was popular a rifle that would be considered ok was more popular, it is the Ruger mini 14 and it’s capabilities are the exact same. Both semiautomatic, detachable magazine rifles that fire the exact same round but the Ruger looks less like a military rifle, it has a wood stock and looks more traditional. In the past military to looked like the mini 14 they did up until the 1960s. This is why I don’t support an assault weapons ban is because functionally they operate the same. The only way to achieve the goal is to ban all modern guns, all modern guns are magazine fed semiautomatic, with detachable magazines. Revolvers and bolt action rifles are 19th century technology. We had these guns in society for over 100 years and we didn’t have the mass casualty shootings we have now. Something in our society has changed and access to guns is actually harder now than it was when we didn’t have the problem. If the goal is a disarmed population then gun control is the right path, if it is stopping incidents then we have to find out why they occur or the tools will change if one is banned or they will just illegally build it which is really easy to do. Trust me when I say you can achieve the same results with a bolt action rifle or a revolver on unarmed children or adults. In other countries they make bombs to carry out the same kind of attacks and often they have higher casualties than if using guns. Something in our society changed from about 1970 to today. Kids used to go to schools with guns in their cars, high school kids, and we didn’t have this issue.

The only thing a permit does is add a layer of red tape for honest people. Never has a criminal said "I'd rob that gas station, but I don't have a permit, so it would be a crime to carry my stolen gun to and from the robbery."

The last time I went to USA was before Trump assumed office in January 2017. I haven’t been back, and I don’t see anything changing anytime soon. The way it’s looking I don’t think I will visit the USA ever again in my life.
