The best life coaches understand that they are actually in the business of getting people to a point of taking personal responsibility for their actions. Once a person does that, they don’t “need” anyone to do life with. They can own their life choices. THAT’S powerful coaching.

with that said: A life coach doesn’t solve their clients’ problems…
Any coach helps the clients to get to their goals, on their own… they don’t “solve” problems..

I paid a coach. 1st month great. 2nd month was chaotic. When we then discussed my expectations and what I needed, she said, "Well, you can Google that." I took the L as a lesson and she will never get a recommendation from me.

That’s not coaching. Coaches don’t solve their clients problems. We facilitate better thinking and help them develop the confidence to solve their own problems when we’re not around and done working together. I agree that 1:1 coaching should have an end point when working together on a regular basis. I check in with my clients every 90 days to review progress and determine if we both want to continue.

No matter what service based business you do.. spend more time solving clients problems than your own.

Once I made that shift and just focused on driving value… I stopped trying to sell and just focused on making sure in that one phone call that they would remember it for the rest of their life my biz exploded.. I consistently do 15-20k/mo now

The problem is that Life Coaching doesn't acknowledge history it focuses on the here and now. For some they have a historical trauma that will need time to work through and life coaching might not be the best fit for that particular client. My friend who is a therapist will often say with the greatest respect I hope you don't need to see me. Unfortunately people will often rebound back to the person who was the most helpful last time. This might be why coaches get repeat business.

Love this! Our goal is to empower people to get to know who they are, want to be and what stands in there way. We should always be helping people to not need us. That is a successful coaching experience!

That is so true. Have said that I genuinely do not think is their "fault". As a qualified coach i can tell you that unfortunately coaching and mentoring are not regulated, which results in anyone calling themselves a coach. Unless you are properly trained and have your client's best interest in mind, you will always be selfish and think of yourself rather than your client. Sad but true.

If I could give you all an advise is that before you part with your hard earning money (and time) please do your due diligent and check if your "coach" is actually a trained coach.

This is exactly what I do. Five sessions, and we are out of there. You will likely never need me again. And instead of fixing one thing at a time, I try to fix your entire list of problems. Including eating too much drinking too much and smoking or vaping too much. Add to that fears, what some people calling anxiety with some people called depression, and way way more. He is absolutely right couldn’t agree more!

The problem is I have to keep finding more and more clients, but it’s a problem to have!

This is why becoming a certified life coach is important. In the classes of our certification the number one thing you learn is you are not there to fix peoples problems. You are a active listening to support and guide your clients through a questions, goal setting, and accountability. Life coaching is showing up for your client and working with them from where they are and where they want to go. I have had several ethic classes as a massage therapist, reiki master, and energy healer aswell as ethics in my certified courses as a life coach. People want the easy way out sometimes to say fix me but making habit changes takes work and a qualified life coach to work with you on a path of change. I've written my own course to guide and support my clients on there journey. They are in charge and when they feel my services are not needed that's wonderful and they always know I'm there for them. 🎉

100%. That's love in a nutshell. You want the best for them. It's not about you. Also works for any business ever. Great customer service = free marketing from word of mouth. I wish half the companies I've worked for understood this. Most of them have closed down now.

Gary just spoke incredible words of wisdom. However, a coach does not fix your problems, we help you acquire the best internal/soft skills so you can not only fix your current challenge, but most challenges you face in the future as well.
I often tease that my responsibility as a coach is to help clients so well that I put myself out of business.
My Dad taught me when I was 7y/o: "If you take care of your clients, your clients will take care of you"... by sending referrals and returning if/when needed.

And my USP has been if I coach you for 3-6months you won't need anyone to help you for that problem because you will have solved a lot of problems and have tools for any similar situations in future
