Do you have a warm-up routine before you exercise? Warm-ups (and stretching) are something we've always been taught to do - supposedly to improve athletic performance and to prevent injuries. But is this accurate? Let's talk about what science tells us about the pros and cons of warming up before exercise…and how to do it!

If you have any questions or other subjects that you’d like me to discuss, leave a comment below – I’d love to hear from you!

What is The Feed with Dr. G?

“Science provides the knowledge we need to improve our health – but it’s also science’s job to make sure that knowledge is accessible to everyone.” – Dr. Samir Gupta

Nothing matters more than our health. And science is the key to understanding and maximizing our health and wellness. Yet new studies are reported in the news every day, and it seems impossible to keep up and figure out what’s important. At the same time, science is too often presented in a traditional style that’s unnecessarily complex and hard to understand.

As both a doctor and a scientist, my mission is to find fresh approaches to make science clear, transparent, and easy to understand (=obvious!) – for everyone. In our digital world, The Feed is built to keep people engaged and informed around the latest topics and newest science in health and medicine, and to empower them to separate fact from fiction.

For all the viewers here that exercise by lifting weights(which the string bean here didnt talk about obviously) you need to do warm up sets with light weights. Not just to warm up the muscle tempurature wise(geezee) your joints get lubricated with natural fluids we produce. your tendons become more elastic and therefore preventing injury 100% percent of the time. So dont watch this video and decide to go max out on a squat or benchpress and send your shoulders or knees to snap city because this guys lack of mentioning lifting weights as an exercise.
