Look into the laws a little closer. The man is responsible for the women. The women is never held responsible for the man. The exception is if the women was a CEO.

Marriage license=permission from the state/county to marry. Gives jurisdiction over marriage. Also, grooms name is listed in a registry in case of divorce for child support reasons.

I was getting ready to marry. As a man, I don't see a SINGLE advantage to this. ONLY LIABILITY.

WHY in the first place, does ANYONE over 18 NEED a license to get married? WHY would anyone have to have permission from State to love and live with WHOMEVER THEY CHOOSE? A license is another way for the state to pick your pockets and have control/ownership over you, your spouse and any children husband and wife might have. So who has the right to allow - permit someone to 'marry?" What's in it for the State/Government AND lawyers?

That couple that got married while not getting a marriage license, did they get a marriage certificate? How did the law view them?

Common law marriage means you may have to get a divorce even though you never even had gotten married in the first place??? Thats gross!
