This Google company doesn't want you to remove short section so that you waste your time on their apps. They are useful even though they are really distracting.

Omg, it actually worked! No more shorts in recommendations!
I worried that my recommendations would be messed up after clearing history, but they are actually pretty good. Obviously, there are some videos that i have already watched, but they are all relevant. Probably, the recommendations are now based on my subscriptions and not my history.

As of February 2023 they have removed the option to change these settings now 😡 I’m getting unbelievably frustrated. I pay $10 a month for youtube premium, I should be able to disable shorts from ruining my life.

What a terrible solution! I'd have to loose all my history (that I often use), the suggestions I get based on it, and the short button is still down there. Not to mention that if I turn history on again, the shorts will soon get back.
