It amazes me. Still feels like magic when you think about the actual technology of videos, pictures, games flying through the air wirelessly uploading to inanimate object. Pulling it up 10 years later and it will still be there. Seems like fallen angel knowledge if you ask me.

DECADES? That's freaking insane. I can't believe we actually figured out how to store a charge in such a tiny mechanism for so long.

I loved how much information was packed into such a short video! 👍👍👍

it feels so good having an ssd for starting operating system and programs. it's like a license to start working finally.

Thank you that was really easy to understand

So basically a high voltage has to be applied on the gate terminal for quantum tunneling to occur in order to make the electrons jump to the floating gate? And since the floating gate is insulated from all sides it doesn't leak charge ?

Can you please explain more on how the charge is stored permanently even for a longer period of times.

If each gate represents a bit, does it not require billions of those just for a gigabyte of storage?

Is it possible that we have SSD with unlimited write but using Battery?
Its basically slow ram.

I don't understand why we don't have electrowetting drives, all it takes to store a value is sending a charge for the drop to either avoid or run to (forget which), after that a simple ray of light can be used to check where the drop is and thus determine what state to give back to the device reading it, the bonus is that no charge is needed after setting it and the read & write speeds will be practically identical, if not the same, should also be equally as fast as SSD methods but have greater longevity thereby consigning HDDs to the past once and for all

how the floating gate mosfets are fabricated?

The main component of flash storage is the transistors

Get your facts straight. HDD data retention is LONGER than SSD !!

Thanks but please stop using Indian accent. Even if I have a accent too, it’s annoying. But for sure Indian accent guy knows much more than me about this. Thanks for sharing keep doing.
