I got my first pair of Tailwinds in the ‘80s and I have to say that they were some of the most comfortable sneakers that I wore at the time.

Fast forward to Nike’s ACG Lava Dome (Lows/1988) that borrowed a lot of cues from the Tailwind.

The first version is the best, it's stripped to the bone, minimalist design with a beautiful silhouette, you can't add or remove anything form that design - it's a classic.

the Tailwind IV was the best looking one for streetwear. The OG Tailwind was pretty good running shoe. I remember it was ground breaking when it came out.

Karhu had the first air cushioned sole before Nike did. They had the Karhu Air Cushion system which had air in the heel and the arch support. It was in a sneaker called the ChampionAir that came out in 1977.

Great video as always. What I do find ironic is that although air technology was originally developed for running, Nike no longer uses it in its running shoes.

I had a pair of the Tailwind 96's when they came out. Pity the midsole Got the 'stranger things' retro earlier this year. But that grey/blue original colourway looks great!
