‌A study conducted by the European Society of Cardiology in Amsterdam found that men and women who ate high amounts of ultra processed foods could increase the risk of cardiovascular disease by 24%.

Ultra-processed foods are loosely defined as those that typically have five or more ingredients and include additives and ingredients that are not generally used in home cooking.

Alex Phillips is joined by cardiologist Dr Aseem Malhotra to discuss the scale of the problem and what governments should be doing to tackle this.

Dr Aseem says: “Foods that are advertised as healthy are likely to have the opposite effect on your health.”

Who knows, they might, eventually, run out of the pretences on what to blame and admit what we all know is causing this.
Safe and effective.
Sure.

She's not allowed to say McDonald's so she says takeaways. The results are small businesses closing down and McDonald's and the like taking more sales. Toothless

I was recently in hospital with anal itch and the food I was served was rotten. My only comfort was the vending machines and the nurse applying cream

I was in hospital recently during my parters pregnancy, the portions were also ridiculous, we would order 1 meal and 2 plates

This is news? I saw a TV documentary with these findings 10 years ago at least.

I don't think that's what's causing the excess cardiovascular deaths. They'll blame it on anything.

thats odd if processed foods are to blame why is it not banned and i thought the buying of these foods have dropped
due to vegans and yet deaths of the scale are they not.
a question are the bugs being put into some foods i hear are they not also processed .

I wondered how long it would be before they came up with some excuse for what is causing the increase in heart attacks. The non sheep all know that it's actually the dib-dab

I used to take my Mum to the hospital for her treatments & looked at all the high fatty foods their restaurants offered and would never wish to eat such highly, salted, sugared, processed crap!🤬🤦‍♀️😖

My father in law when into hospital for a suspected fractured hip. He ended up getting covid and severe diarrhoea. I'm not surprised at all with anything to do with the ticktocking NHS

HPF foods are really bad. Since cutting them out the weight has fallen of me and I’m much fitter and healthier. They are addictive, it’s hard to wean yourself off HPF.
However, under no circumstances should governments be raising taxes in these foods. People have the right to choose what they like!
