this finally solved my problem, I didn't show hidden devices in the device manager, and for whatever reason this was the first video to mention it, thanks!

Thanks, turns out my xbox controller was hidden in device manager. Didn't know there were hidden devices. For anyone confused: open device manager, uninstall the device if it shows up (in my case Xbox Wireless Controller), go view -> show hidden devices (as shown in the video), then uninstall the hidden one if its there, go to bluetooth settings, the device shouldn't be there, turn off bluetooth and back on again (the device should show up again), then remove it, and it should work.

I'm on windows 10 and I've tried replicating this as best I could, but it keeps adding itself back in. My problem is that one of my ps4 controllers shows up amongst other devices and no matter how/if I remove said device windows keeps adding it back in... and it does this every time I restart Bluetooth no matter if the controller is on or not. This issue is causing the controller to not work.

I know that it is some software fault with windows 10 since I have a hard drive switch that I use for running two other boots and those two do not have this issue.

So far I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling both the Bluetooth/WIFI drivers device in the device manager and I've also tried downloading the device specific drivers from intel's website with no luck. The issue persists and I'm pretty much out of ideas at this point.

I'm wondering about what I can do since I'm unwilling to wipe and reinstall windows 10 in it's entirety.

Edit: There is also the fact that there is a lot of unknown devices showing up when searching for devices via Bluetooth on this boot.

None of these solutions worked for me:
1) When I enable airplane mode, the option to remove the device is greyed out
2) Restarting the Device Association Services didn't change anything
3) My device doesn't show up in the Device Manager; it's still listed in my Bluetooth & Devices within system settings though.

Thank you so much! FINALLY, I have been able to remove a faulting device that Windows 11 kept saying "Remove Failed". Seems it was the fact the device was hidden in Device Manager that fixed it for me.

Thank you this worked for me. I swapped my ssd drive from one pc to another and I noticed I had old motherboard bluetooth driver on it. So I removed all the hidden drivers and it solved it for me

The Device Manager method worked for me.. Now I can connect my Jbl Speaker, and it'd be used as my audio device. Before now, I was unable to use it for audio, it just showed connected, and basically useless. I've searched the internet for days.. Thanks to your Video ✌🏾
