Literally in the trailer there is a scene where Tom is being attacked and everything behind him is red and he is yelling:"Sonic!!" So, he's definitely going to be in danger, but he'll survive it probably.

I do agree with you. I don’t think he’s gonna die. But he might get injured though. I have a feeling the part of the trailer when sonic said what did you do while shadow says what I have to have to do with Tom in someway.

Maria was murdered and this made Shadow a vengeful Hedgehog. I was told this as a kid and I'm okay. Heck marvel movies shows pretty tough violence now and then in what's supposed to be a PG-13 movie

I’m starting to think now that we are at the third film of the franchise that they should start exploring longer stories that span multiple films, I would love to see this film end on a cliffhanger

There's been many deaths in the Sonic-verse. Tom dying would make Sonic much more determined to fight harder.
