Congratulations to Cirrus for doing what Beechcraft and other manufacturers were doing half a century ago. That's real progress.

Cirrus is one of those planes that changed the GA landscape, but I think Diamond has further changed it. Both Cirrus and Diamond are incredible aircraft, and one of these days maybe I'll get to experience flying one or both. Not having the cubic dollars to own either, renting is my option but when a Cirrus pushes $400 an hour or more to rent...maybe not, Diamond on the other hand $200 an hour is a possibility. In the mean time, it's good 'ole Cessna 172 or 182.

Fellow Cirrus owner in FL. Great range, FIKI, system redundancy and A/C! Excellent airplane!
Thanks for highlighting the main points for wives everywhere. CAPS

Great video. I’ve never flown a Cirrus, but it like to get my hands on one. Fly well!

I wanted to _not_ want a Cirrus, then I went "shopping" at OshKosh. I also checked out the Diamond's but they were a heck of a lot less open. Literally - everything was closed up and the staff sat around talking to themselves. The Cirrus team (and it was a team event) spent time talking to me, asking me questions, and even offering to fly a plane to my home base and take me for a spin next month. I might take them up on it, but first I am hiring a local school with a Cirrus to take me out with one of their CFIs to get familiar on my own.

I'll echo something Michael said: talking to my wife about plane options, she said - without ever sitting in anything other than a Cessna - "We want the one with the parachute." We have two small kids. There was a certainty in her voice that said I should not argue this one.

So it's gonna be Cirrus, because Textron's Panthera cert is still 3/4 years out.

what type of business do you use it for?

It's a great airplane, but then again, a triple seven is also a great airplane. The problem is these things are just too expensive for what they can do. It's not the company's fault, it's just how GA is these days. We probably have about 20 years left before GA disappears completely.

Brave video considering the pilots are the butt of so many aviation jokes.

One question that I wanted to ask about the SR20 and the SR22 is the leg room in the back seats. Is there enough leg room in the back for someone 6 foot or taller?

Non pilots will appreciate a modern interior compared to cessna or piper...

Hey just watched your video while doing research on becoming a aviation pilot. I'd really appreciate a reply back especially because I live in SOCAL too... Pasadena. I just spoke with a rep at MACH 1 and wanted your thoughts.

LMAO. SR 20 is WAY too slow for the money!! As a ex SR22T owner I also use to fly the trainer cirrus (aka the SR20). But only for transition training. There are a lot of great reasoned to fly cirrus. But safety records show it’s far LESS safe then comparable planes. I’m a bonanza guy now because the stall characteristics of the cirrus are far too deadly far too fast! You only exacerbate that by loading a SR 20 with the weight of your family. It’s naïve to say this is a safe airplane for families. As the SR20 has way too low of a gross weight to carry a family and full fuel. Its also strange to say it’s a great plane because it’s “wife approved”. Study the true differences between the cirrus wing and its competitors. And how many people die in cirrus’s because of the defect in design of the wing. Especially when they are too low for CAPS. They didn’t put that parachute in there to add safety features. The FAA made them do it! The airframe is too dangerous without it to pass safety regulations. That’s a well documented fact.

Lots of engine-outs; lots of dead pilots that relied on that parachute. 4300 hr airframe. 👎
