This was my life with my bio-mother 😅 and my 5th grade teacher. I couldn't catch a break! Imagine being 10 yo & not allowed to read @ home bcs yr teacher said you distracted the class by reading instead of doing yr work! And it wasn't even true! I only read in class bcs I was usually done before my classmates, so I'd get bored, and the rule was that if you finished early you could get up, quietly!, and go to the reading corner to read. And it's what I'd do. She also didn't like that I was taken out of her class for English & Math to attend with the 8th graders. My bio-mother didn't question the why, she was just embarrassed to know I was in trouble.

I don't get it: Why would the threat of police make Magnus the escapologist do his act?
I'm no law expert, but I'm 100% certain the police can't arrest you for canceling a performance, especially one that endangers your pregnant wife.
At the very least, it would be a civil case over breach of contract. One that would likely be ruled in the couple's favor given the circumstances.
