The BEST Way To Find All The Different Minor Scales | Natural, Harmonic, Melodic PLUS Dorian

This is really important beginner theory. The different minor scales piano players must learn are Natural, Harmonic and Melodic and people often only mention these three different types. Really, there's a fourth you should know. Dorian is commonly used in more modern music like funk or jazz and it's really just as important as some of the others - I know it's called a mode not a scale technically but a lot of the time, it effectively serves the same purpose. The different types will often chop and change throughout 1 piece of music.

When i started, i thought theory would be the hardest part to learn. Because i never got it before with trying guitar or in school. With your videos and PDFs on the side ... it is so amazinlgy "natural" (chrchr) and everything fits together and one gets the whole picture. I just watched a clip and the guy said "its e dorian" and now I GET IT!. Looking forward to play together with other people and understand the language, add suggestions ... try stuff. And all thanks to your channel (and my motivation ... which is fueled by your videos!)

I'm learning Greensleeves in D minor. Nearly all the Bs (6ths) have a natural accidental and two of the Cs (7ths) are sharpened in the Treble Clef but in the Bass Clef they're all as the key signature indicates. My question is what is the determining factor in identifying the type of minor? (Sheet music is in Bastien Vol. 2 Older Beginner p. 26). Edit: well, I read the description AFTER posting this and I see they can "chop and change". Maybe that's my answer.
