2015 Honda Civic VTi-L hatch
1.8-litre four-cylinder
104kW and 174Nm
Five-speed auto, front-wheel drive
0-100km/h in 10.5 seconds (as tested)

The Honda Civic hatch has an extensive and reputable history. It's been a dependable, practical, and fuel-efficient small car for over four decades now, and it continues to have a spark of excitement in its eye when it comes to handling. While it's far from demolishing its competition in terms of sales in Australia, the charismatic hatch offers some quirky Japanese styling for the mainstream segment. Should the 2015 model be on your shortlist?

In its respective segment, the Civic is well and truly overshadowed by its competitors in terms of local sales; arguably one of the toughest market segments to penetrate and succeed in. So far this year the Civic sits in 12th place for popularity, with the company having shipped just 2407 units. Some rivals have nearly multiplied this by 10; Mazda has posted 20,427 sales of the 3, the Hyundai i30 reports 15,801 sales, and the trusty fleet-favourite Toyota Corolla has gone out to 21,750 customers.

This engine is offered in the U.S for it's civic spec. It's utterly slow and embarrassing for it's class. They actually dropped the 5 speed auto here and added a cvt. They just need to go direct injected and DOHC. The power-train is from 2006.

We have a 2016 i-vetec 1.8 manual civic and it’s way quicker than that thing. How did that perform so poorly?

Hold the revs slightly, dump the clutch and 60mph appears in under 9 seconds. On the go, overtakes are easy enough if you keep the revs up. These need to be kept above 3500 tevscto get anything from them and are really great little engines. Its not all about performance and those who have grown up a bit know that. The i-vetec us one of the most reliable, frugal and long lived petrol engines ever made and it’s a sad loss to have EU emissions BS controls destroying all these fine engines. Lexus ate dropping their 3.5v6 unit from their EU line up for that readon, the most reliable, utterly dependable engine ever made and capable of surprising poke as when used in the last generation of non hybrid GS300’s. Rant over

Sorry if I take advantage ... but I thought that among the readers of the comments there is someone more experienced than me. Owner of Honda Civic 2015 IX series, engine and gearbox without problems, the car have too light and imprecise steering exceeding 110 km / h: is there a remedy? PS. I regret the VII series ... very funny car, not like the one I currently have Thank you

Pretty light on any information on how the car actually drives...terrible panning and who's just interested in acceleration shots?!
