My fiance is still struggling sometimes with these. Too late for us. My ex was diagnosed at 5 years ago at 74 after 42 years of marriage. Can you even contemplate what it must have been like that neither if us knew. It destroyed us. He is doing OK now he can live his hermit like existence but my mental health depression and anxiety has plagued me so much over the last 20 years but worse in the last 10, that I struggle to live through another day, every day. There is so much information and support for ASD now, and even then it's still touch and go if a relationship can survive, but we had nothing and at 70, my life is over. Had I known he had autism 20 years ago with the knowledge available today, not only would we still be married, but I might not live in such suffering and despair that I have to question every day "can I live another day" 😢
