Reefing can be expensive. So I wanted to show you how to set up a saltwater tank for cheap! I did have to do some shopping around for all the supplies but you don't need to buy new when setting up a saltwater tank! Now to let this baby cycle and add my clownfish :)

Thank you for watching. I'll leave links to the equipment I bought.

I’m starting my first salt water tank, and this video was the only one out of 20 I watched that was actually to the point and I liked how you explained everything.! And cost efficient thank you! 😊

If you lay the sand first, then put a plate on top of the sand, then pour water into the plate it will fill the tank with minimal disturbance to the sand.

this was the most hilarious video I've seen about setting up a tank & I'm honestly here for it

I see so many people use a brush to apply paint🤦🏾‍♂️. Using a small roller...easier...faster👍🏾.

Future reference it's a lot faster just to use black spray paint. And it only cost you a dollar with a dry time of less than an 30-40 min. That's how most of my aquarium stores do it. I went an extra mile and put polyurethane over top of it so it won't scratch.

This is the most awkward and backwards way of setting up an aquarium I've ever seen 😂

Can you re-configure the rocks again for me, that first '8 minutes' of the video went real quick.

You know, you can use adhesive vinyl from your local sign shop (or sometimes hobby shops) and never have to deal with the paint mess! Just keep it in mind.

this is true I've done this I've had a 20 gallon of saltwater aquarium for over two years now it looks beautiful I have so many different Coral in it I do not have a sump or a protein skimmer the most expensive thing you're going to buy usually is going to be the light make sure you get the right light do your research and if you want it to look really good make sure you do it at least 25% water changes once a week which is about five gallons and never talk your aquarium with salt water only RO water or distilled these are small little tips for real you can do this and it's beautiful trust me I know what I'm talking about I have more tanks than you can imagine salt and fresh I would like to see more people with aquariums specially saltwater it's beautiful and it's an amazing experience it's like you have a little piece of the ocean with you at all times

You can replace the intake with a sponge, you might need to use an elastic or something like fishing line to hold it down, but that will save you a few inches.

Aquaclear definitely makes the best HOB filter, I use them on all of my fresh water tanks

why not just add black poster board to the back?

I cut the end of filter intake where i was left with "fingers"pushed back up inside of next step of the plastic intake screen and super glued it back together. I didn't want to buy another filter. I already had it and liked the skimmer built in worked well.

Hey I know it's an old video but you should check out the seachem tidal filters I refitted all my tanks with them they have a surface skimmer and a really nice big media chamber, similar to the fluval but much more high quality in my opinion. I put a 55g one on my 20g high reef to get as much filtration as possible
