You mentioned Ahsoka and Maul. But why not have both of them go to save him? They both would be willing to have a truce if it meant taking down Sidious/saving Anakin. Having a prime example of the light and the dark around him would even him out in my opinion.

PPSW. As a double amputee, recovering from a recent surgery, thank you. Had a bad week, and came across this, and it was the lift my spirirt needed. I found myself identifying with Anakin, more than I ever have, as he was struggling to deal with multiple limb loss, and adapting to his prosthetics. The small moments and details are similar to my own, getting used to life with my metal leg, and carbon fiber feet. Details most gloss over in fiction.

What if instead of Anakin immediately seeking vengeance against Sidious, in this video, he goes into exile. I like the idea that he is dragging himself across the scorching rocks. Instead of being as burnt as he was at the end of episode 3, he is scarred due to dragging himself across the hot rocks and from Sidious' force lightning. Falling unconscious, he would wake in a bacta tank being tended to the local worker droids, who all have a sub routine to help injured biologicals. Though they do not have the skills or data capable of giving him new limbs. Anakin would have to guide the droids in the construction of his mechanical arm, built with the scrapped and damaged battle droids and local labor droids. Once he had his arm he would build his own legs. He would have a similar exile to that of Obi-wan, where he would cut himself off from the force. He would seek work as a scrapper/occasional mechanic. I am not sure that he would go to tatooine, if he truly doesn't like sand. I think he would go to one of the lesser known outer rim planets. He would want to go somewhere where no one would recognize him, and even tho he might not know anyone he would keep to himself. His nights would be plagued with images of younglings, Jedi knights and masters alike being cut down by his own lightsaber. He would dream of his duel with Obi-wan and seeing his old master walk away with his saber, his sith master abandoning him to die a slow horrible death, and padme. padme haunted his dreams the most. the dream might be nice at first but it always ended the same way, her grasping for air as he lifted her up into the air with the force. it wouldn't be years later, after the first death star had been destroyed, that he heard the name Skywalker again. He would overhear a hushed conversation between some spacers of how some guy named Luke Skywalker destroyed the death star and was quickly gaining prestige and rank within the rebel alliance. this would lead Anakin to go out and find this Luke Skywalker, but first there was someone he had to go see. cut to Anakin walking off of a public transport, heading toward padme's memorial grave. there he would weep and apologize and come to terms with what he did to her. it's there where he attempts to connect to the force. a violent wave of images come to him. all his nightmares one after another. it's to much to handle so he shuts himself off from the force again. clearly he is not ready to come to terms with ALL that he has done. but he is determined to find out if this Luke Skywalker is indeed his son... anyways I am sure y'all can imagine how everything goes after that. I just think that Anakin having a spiritual enlightenment as soon as he left by Sidious seemed rushed. Pente I love your stuff and I am excited to see what else you put out there and in no way am I trying to diss your story!

Anakin seems to have lesser injuries than canon, especially to torso and lungs. Arguably, crawling back would have failed then. But possibly like Grivous Vader had artificial asthma anyway. Gloomy meeting this former Jedi... thank you for this story.
