So I Originally Wanted To Make A 5th Version Of The Infamous "Then You Will Die" Line From Star Wars Rebels By Having Anakin's Lines Be Consumed By Vader's Audio But Then I Decided To Add A Visual Clue, His Eyes.

Vader said this as a promise.

Anakin's blue eyes and voice fading away as his eyes become yellow and his voice more robotic is absolutely chilling.

It's almost like Anakin doesn't "retreat" but he embraces the dark side again, remembering how he felt when Ashoka left him. The people he loves always leave. So it makes more sense that his anger and sadness for her departure cause him to become Vader again.

I think the reason why Anakin ”retreats” into Vader is that he is so incredibly ashamed of what he’s become, and his former padawan, and, maybe a bit of a little sister even seeing him like that just brakes Anakin and he retreats into Vader.

This scene takes on a whole new significance after the finale of Kenobi. Obi-Wan destroyed one half of Vader’s mask, and Ahsoka destroys another. Only Luke actually removes the whole thing, and he does it without a lightsaber.

Saddest part is that when Ahsoka returned during the last few days of the Clone Wars, Anakin wanted to know where she’d been, how she was, what she’s been doing. Ahsoka said there wasn’t any time but that would be the last time she would be able to answer those questions for him 😢😭

The amount of complexity and development behind Darth Vader is baffling me to the present day. Surely one of the best made characters ever in fiction.

When the movies came out, Anakin's fall was sad. But after the Clone Wars and Rebels, his fall became heartbreaking. Knowing there was no happy ending for him

This is why Luke is important

Luke was the only person in the galaxy that got through Vader. He fought and dug through the darkness and armor for what was left of Anakin.

He saw the light, when others fought it. Ahsoka fought it, Obi Wan fought it, everyone did.

Luke cast aside his saber for the chance at hope. For love, he would not fight his father, that love freed Anakin.

Love in the face of war and pain, the love of family, love he hadn't felt since Padmé

I’m considering this to be canon. The original seen makes me sad and tear up but this just hits harder.

This is perfection, the fact that they didn't do this originally is upsetting now.

I think what hurts most about this scene is for a split second, you can see how lost Anakin is by the return of his old padawon, when she wounded him. One of the very few times ever Darth Vader has been felled. He is trapped in that armor forever. And for a second, as his eyes turn blue again, he loses his conviction as a sith. He is, almost pitiable here, with that deeply lost look at 0:39. 'What have I done??" He is, for a second, truly vulnerable. He couldnt even look her in the eye.

He had a real chance to turn away from the dark side.

And then he made his choice. The eye color changing to show his retreat into pain, hate and rage, was a magnificently deft touch. This is an animated series, but this scene shook me to my bones. This alteration makes it so much better.

Damn man, seems like those who were once close to Anakin truly get to see what he has become. Not a ruthless monster. No. A Broken man who has lost everything and everyone. A shell. Whose desperation was sought out for one person and that was the love of his life, yet he failed. He lost his Father Figure (Qui-Gon), His Mother, His Brother, His Wife, and his Sister figure (Ahsoka). The fall of Anakin Skywalker is a *tragic* one indeed.
