To be fair, basically grooming your Sith apprentice from an early age to truly care for you as a parent (Through not treating them like total shit and buttering them up and not torturing them or telling them they should strive to one day murder you) is a good way to possibly raise a powerful apprentice who *doesn't* poison you in your sleep or shove their lightsaber through your heart when you turn your back.

Palpatine already wasnt a typical sith. Maybe with his age and experience, he would realize why his former master wanted to alter the rule of two and another sith rules. And considering his already good relationship with Anakin, he could have basically bought his loyalty instead of enforcing it with cruelty. In the end, he might have been able to have a whole family of loyal guardians that would be willing to defend him even if he decided to go on with the cloning project, so that he would not be vulnerable during the transition.

I happen to think that if Palpatine genuinely loved Anakin, it would eventually erode his mastery of the dark side of the Force. At least the aspects of the dark side that rely on hatred to function.

This version of the galaxy would probably stand up much better to the Vong. Imagine by that point how massive the Imperial fleet would be, possibly several dozen Super Star Destroyers and possibly multiple Death Stars along with an overpowered Emperor Skywalker would make things a lot easier.

I feel like palpatine would’ve let Anakin eventually take his place as emperor if he beat obi wan on mustafar and didn’t suffer his injuries. But palpatine seen Anakin as a literal toy after mustafar.

I'm glad Anakin still got his happy ending. As smart as Sidious was, he was an IDIOT. Whether he genuinely or manipulatively loved him doesn't matter. Treat your workers with care, and you'll go far. Ruling through hate inspires fear, not loyalty.
