Nikon Z9 firmware 2.1 update autofocus AF test tracking birds

Nikon Z 9 real world testing with firmware 2.10 using the Nikon 600mm f/4 E FL lens. In this video I take you out and we do some real tests with the new Nikon Z9 firmware 2.1 on birds. This video is centered around animal AF tracking using the Nikon Z9 and firmware 2.1 Is there a difference from firmware 2.0? Let us find out. Let's go.

I'm really impressed with how quickly you've picked up the birding stuff. Some really great shots. I've seen some good and some bad on the 2.10 - I wouldn't be surprised if we get (I should say 'you get') a 2.11 in a couple months. Glad you did this video - I enjoyed it.

Hello Vahagraohy, Thak you, you said it just right there is a lot to get used to with the Z system and the Z9 It dose so must. It is a big learning curve going from a DSLR to Mirrorless. But it is just fun leaning new tricks and skills. Keep well, keep safe and have fun.

Hello Vahagn: More I see videos like yours more I'm convinced that I did the right thing by sticking to Nikon and getting the Z9. I got the camera about two weeks ago and still going through the menu system. I haven't set up any of the photo shooting banks. Hence, I'll update to 2.1 and then finish setting up the banks. I bought the Z9 mainly for birds and other wildlife. This video of yours gives me a lot of mental strength. I will be shooting the wedding of a friend of mine and thinking of using the Z9 with Z 24-70; will keep either Z6ii with 20mm or Fuji XT4 with 16mm as the wide angle. Thank you for standing up for Nikon against those brand bashers!!

Really like this video Vahagraphy, showing the new updated firmware 2.1 for the Z9. I had the chance to take both of my Z9 (one had the 70-200z and the second body had the 50/1.2z lens to a local concert last Friday, I really got some nice images but when the stage lights were low I did struggle to lock focus using 3d, all in all very pleased with the overall images. Much appreciate the video, have loved the Z9 so far and birds are primarily my thing. I have been using the 800 6.3 which works great with it, but looks like the new firmware will even make matters better for in flight shots or the smaller birds.

The unsung hero in the Nikon Z world is Viltrox. I just received my Viltrox 13mm 1.4 DX lens for Nikon and it is excellent! It doesn't have VR on the Z50 or Ffc cameras, but I'd does on my Z7II though in automatic DX mode. Viltrox is a very appreciated company in the Nikon mirrorless world.

Before the firmware update there were 99 options for focus alone. Yes. The Z 9 is a learning curve. Yes. It's worth it even for those of us switching from a D5.
