Nikon has just released another Z9 firmware update 2.1. This improves autofocus on AF-C mode, better detection of smaller subjects, High Frequency Flicker Reduction, improved VR and more! Check out the video to see it in action!

I sold some of ml leica sl glass and purchased this camera. Oh my goodness!! That autofocus blows the sl2s away. It’s been an eye opening experience to say the least!!

Really nice summary. I pan and I have a long lens (so back at you soon). I've been working on panning for the last week, so this comes as a welcome improvement. The better, stickier, more accurate AF is also welcome - but I thought it was improved in only limited modes (especially about the locked on background part (i.e. in the Dynamic s/m, single point or WA Custom C1/2 of the box was 1x1). Did it really improve in 3D and general WA as well? Thx Bobby for the welcome information.

Thanks for information on the v2.1. I have something that I'm not sure if you've seen, but I was shooting as a second at wedding and had my flash on my camera. This was just after v2 came out so I was trying the variable focus areas (C1 and C2) while taking photos. I'm not sure if it was me or the camera, but I noticed that the flash would not work if I was using the settings I set up in C1 (wide and narrow). Have you seen this before? TIA

Beware Nikon updates. When updated my D5600 all my batteries would not work. On Nikon's site it was stated that the update "protected me" from the unsafe batteries I had used for years. Never again will I update anything Nikon. My first Nikon was an F with a meter.

Best review I've seen. Hope you have a more extensive shoot!!! Lots of Song Bird photographers ]had major issues with focusing/ stickiness.
