Honestly I feel like you'd find a better version of it in any household. It's one of those meals where more class does not equal a better meal or even a more traditional one. All the ingredients are right though so it is what it is and I'm sure it was gorgeous.

A lot of things are “made, ” during war times. Look at WWII w canned Spam. Now it’s traditional in Hawaii. We do what we can to get by in times of need.

Oh wow, that looks delicious! My mother normally makes bangers and mash, but she also adds baked beans to the mix. It's delicious! Honestly one of my favourite comfort foods. You've got to try corned beef hash!

Mmm, I made bangers and mash for dinner last night with angus beef sausages 😋 I love it, such good winter comfort food. It's very popular here in New Zealand, too. Next time, I'm going to make it into a pie.
