Unless you have it with vinegar and white pepper it does taste bland.

I'm a Londoner (Cockney) and this literally is my all time favourite food

The thing you have to always understand about British food is seasoning is minimal it is up to you to add the seasoning you want that's why there are usually so many available.

I’m a Londoner and have to say I’ve always found them seriously bland. I think it’s something that you have to properly grow up eating. Or put loads of vinegar and salt on it.

You should load it up with Chilli Vinegar and salt, with British food seasoning is normally left to the individual

It’s good, they do not put too much salt. Then if you want more salt you add your own salt, pie and mash is absolutely beautiful and don’t forget the vinegar and jelly eals and I’m not even English a foreigner who tasted pie and mash and loved it.

I am impressed someone is "actually" trying British food and being honest rather than just mocking it. Yeah we are not known for our "spices" (as why would we? We are a gloomy rainy and cold part of the world) but the things we do cook are done well.
Roast dinners, Fish and chips, Pies, Savory pastries, scotch eggs, toad in the hole, black pudding, full English breakfast etc.

17 years ago I came over from Eastern Europe to visit London. One of the first British foods I tried was pie and mash, in a Richmond pub with a beautiful scenery. I remember finding it interesting, as I never had meat with sauce inside a pastey before. Yes, British food is mostly not spicy, and doesn't contain spices. Spicy food is not the same with food cooked with spices. Most European foods are not full of spices. But for some recipes you don't need them. European recipes use fresh or dried herbs and minimal seasoning. Sometimes you have to let the ingredients shine and taste of what they are, if that makes sense. Most British traditional dishes are based on post war cuisine, during the recession, when they hardly had anything and they had to make do. The other Northern countries in Europe have blander food compared to the rest of Europe, and that makes sense if you think of the weather/ climate. It makes sense to eat highly calorific meals if you live in a predominantly cold and wet area. Funny how no one attacks Alaskans for their cuisine 😂 Obviously, in hot countries like India, the food's flavour comes from spices. In some hot countries, spices were traditionally used to disguise the smell/ taste of old/ bad meats and fish. That is why people from hot countries traditionally "clean" their meat with lemon, vinegar, etc. since it might not be fresh or properly preserved. We shouldn't insult anyone's culture, it's common sense to have some decency and respect towards others and not insult their traditions. Not sure why it would be racist to mock other countries but not European ones. Food for thought 😂
BTW, I am Eastern European, I love trying and cooking foods from different cultures, my favourite at the moment is South Korea food, but I equally enjoy foods from all over the world. So keep an OPEN MIND and use your brain before you rush to insult other cultures and cuisines. Sending love to everyone 😊

Yep we like to season food to our personal taste. There should always be salt/pepper/vinegar etc. on the table

Pie and mash is the best ever!!! I love it with the eel and parsley licker and the chilli vinegar and white pepper to season it. I never go to the east end without stopping for pie and mash and sometimes a few jellied eels. Heaven on a plate.

I think it very much depends on the place you go to unfortunately, I've had the best and worst Pies within the uk. My local butcher does some that are incredible, freshly made everyday.

Please pay no attention to freaks who attack you for having an opinion, its really appreciated when people from different food backgrounds give British food a try, even if you dont like specific dishes your critism is valid and wanted. I've no clue of your nationality as ive never asked you, but if youre a British person or someone visiting you are more than welcome here, please pay zero attention to these lonely people who only exist to cause others pain. Great video ive subbed :)

You're supposed eat it with a fork and spoon! I love plenty of chilli vinegar and always take in a bottle of Westons dry cider! Love the parsley liquor too! Proper easst london grub although decent pie and mash shops in Essex and Kent!

For european and british food, u need to keep ur palate clear of spices for few weeks... Get use to the flavour and taste of the ingredients rather then seasoning. I did that and i enjy their food, coming from an indian.

I know a few people that move from Louisiana and the first thing they say is always bring your own hot sauce.

Put salt to your preference (better under salted than over) and also a decent amount of vinegar (try it as you go). I've never eaten it myself but I've been told this is how it's eaten!

Greetings from the US. I am not trying to to be a condescending jerk, I swear I am not, but do you have pepper sauce? If not, you should try it. You might have to go to an American goods import shop, or order online, but it might help add a little bit of a spicy kick. One of my favorites is Frank's Red Hot, which is commonly used in the making of Buffalo wings. It gives whatever you add it to a kick of spice without overpowering the flavor of the food itself, with just a hint of garlic. Louisiana and Crystal, while not my favorites, are pretty good too. They have a little more emphasis on the vinegar flavor, although we use white vinegar as opposed to malt vinegar. My absolute favorite though, is Cholula. OMG, that stuff is the GOAT of pepper sauces. That one is good even on some plain-ass tortilla chips. Not Dorito's, just some boring, basic, white corn tortilla chips. Cheers!!!
