Should I marry this person?

Should I take the job?

Should I trust him?

Big or small, regardless of what decisions you're facing, fortune favours the decisive.

And being able to make decisions is a skill which will prove invaluable in your general well-being and success.

But how can we make sure we always make the right decision?

Well… I’m glad you asked.

In the next 10 minutes I’m going to share the key insights from Forensic psychologist Laurence Allison’s & Neil Shortland's book 'decision time', which has literally changed how I approach all decision making in my life for the better.

We’ll cover the 2 main barriers to good decision making, how to understand our own psychology and how to utilise the STAR method to make ANY decision flourish, whether it be choosing where to eat for dinner, who to marry or what career path to take.

Using the “if it’s not a hell yeah, it’s a no” has been the best mental framework for simplified decision making I’ve used over the past 4 years

I keep rewinding because this is one of my biggest problems - also, I guessed a minute on the dot - I’m a drummer, 60 bpm is engrained

Haha, I always go through a restaurant menu as if my life depended on it. I think the problem with the maximizer mindset in my experience is having a very high standard you hold yourself to while not acting on what is best with what you have available. Dreaming for something bigger and better to come along and letting opportunities you do have available to slip to the wayside.

I like this mindset of being decisive and I've been thinking about it recently with my piano education goals. I dont know for certain if i will have success with my music goals to make a career of, but its one of the only things i can do that makes me passionate about life. Being indecisive wont help me to achieve anything, and nothing is certain in life. I dont want to sit by the sidelines anymore waiting for things to happen, because they wont.

There's a show on Netflix, One Piece the live action adaptation. And I actually like Garp more in the live action than the anime. He's the kind of military officer you would want to train you. And he said to Koby that it's important to be decisive when making decisions because innaction is deadly in battle. He also talks about how life isn't fair, and if you've seen the show you know how good that line is. You're not going to be able to have your own life or the world to be perfect as how you want it to be. But can you live with how things are and work with what you have? Anyone with a maximizer mindset I think should watch the show.

I often have that 'hell yeah' feeling... and then the spiraling comes in, the anxiety and fear... and the dreaded ADD freeze response and i stay put in the situation (has been going on for many years by now)🙄😅
